These are peripheral IVs located in the arm for short term catheter use. We cater either manual difficult stick or ultrasound-guided IVs.
Peripheral IV catheters which are about 6cm-8cm long and these can be left for up to 29 dwelling days.
This is an 8 - 20 cm catheter inserted in the upper arm with the tip located at the distal end of the axillary vein. This is inserted by percutaneous stick via ultrasound guidance into the large veins in the upper arm. This catheter can usually be used for 2-4 weeks.
This is a long, thin tube that's inserted through a vein in your arm and passed through to the larger veins near your heart. Very rarely, the PICC line may be placed in the leg via greater saphenous vein especially on pediatric patients. It's generally used for long-term antibiotic treatment, hydration therapy, total parenteral nutrition, certain types of chemotherapy and pain management. Most importantly, this line helps avoid the pain of frequent needle sticks and reduce the risk of irritation to the smaller veins in the arms.
We provide services on port access to either PAS-port or Port-A-Cath.
Any vascular related concerns like malposition by migration, overwire PICC exchanges, and occluded catheters.
Non-tunneled lines
Medication needs to be provided by facility pharmacy.
For competencies in peripheral intravenous insertion, central line dressing changes, and peripheral intravenous care and maintenance.
